The last series I bought, complete, on DVD was the modern Battlestar Galactica. We settled down on the sofa and consumed each series as it was released in an orgy of viewing that lasted a week or so. And I still have those boxed sets. I do want to rewatch the series at some point, and so I hang onto the physical media.
There's a prequel series underway - Caprica. And we want to watch it. And between the end of the old series and the start of this one, we've acquired an HD TV and an Apple TV. And so, I've just bought a series pass for Caprica in HD. No physical media to store. New episodes to watch as they're released. HiDef.
It'll be a different experience. No special features. No "orgies" of viewing, because we're getting the episodes as they come. I'll report back.
