The students were then tested using the KIPP Spring Common Assessment Test. The scores were compared to the students who didn’t have access to an iPad and the results speak for themselves.
“Overall, the percentage of students who rated either proficient or advanced (the ‘passing’ rate) was 49% percent higher in the ‘flipped classrooms’ using the iPads than in the traditional classrooms with no iPads,” according to the report. “The difference was most pronounced in the percentage of students rated as ‘advanced,’ which was 150% higher in the ‘flipped classrooms.’”
Pretty telling…

The Nova story that will soon be in readers hands employs a number of new techniques for dolling out the moments of a comic narrative including captions and dialogue that fall into place over an image one-by-one at the readers command and panel transitions created by a change in focus from foreground to background. "That was Stuart Immonen," Waid said of the latter notion. "That was his brainchild as we started talking about this and how to use it as a storytelling technique, which I love. In a sense, it's a film technique, but it's not a cheap trick. It's the same thing you would do if you were putting those panels side-by-side on the page. But this allows you to consolidate the space and get the story across that way.

Marvel Infinite Comics will be “the first marvel comics built strictly for digital. They’ll use parameters of your iPhone or iPad. It’s a new canvas for storytelling.” Readers will still control the pacing, but starting with the Nova series, panels of the digital comics will be slightly animated to make them feel alive.

Apple’s newest iPad has some new elements that could make it a (bigger) hit in the enterprise, such as higher resolution screen for video conferencing and presentations, as well as taking dictation. A college is planning a new evening course entirely devoted to taking better photographs on an iPhone.
The course, in 'iPhoneography' at London's Kensington and Chelsea College, is thought to be a UK first.
The college says many iPhone owners struggle to use the camera properly.
Students will create images using the iPhone camera and a range of apps. Tutor Richard Gray said: "All you need is a passion for photography and a creative mind.

There’s no denying that we get tremendous pleasure from the things we have. But the pleasure is disappointingly short-lived. And although this adaptation happens to us again and again, we never seem to learn to anticipate it. The result is that even when we get exactly what we want, we often end up disappointed.

Large cameras meant for kids to use have been around for years, but Sakar's AppClix appears to be the first to be aimed at those whose parents own an iPad. The colorful camera, adorned with your choice of several Disney characters, is nothing to sneeze at with a 7-megapixel sensor and 4x zoom. However, instead of a USB cable, there's a 30-pin dock connector.
